PRO1D R72 N
Experience unique infrared imagery beyond the naked eye.
The R72 is a near-infrared transmission filter specifically designed for digital cameras.
Although most digital cameras are equipped with a low-pass filter that blocks infrared light, their sensors still retain a certain level of infrared sensitivity. By using the R72, photographers can capture infrared images that reveal light, contrast, and details beyond what the human eye can see.
Traditionally, infrared photography required precise exposure control and specialized techniques. With digital cameras, the process is much more accessible, allowing users to review and adjust exposures instantly. Since infrared sensitivity varies between camera brands and models, some experimentation may be necessary to achieve the desired results. The R72 opens the fascinating world of infrared photography to a wider range of photographers.
MONOCHROME INFRARED PHOTOGRAPHY
Foliage and clouds, which strongly reflect infrared light, appear bright white, while skies and water appear dark or nearly black. This unique rendering creates dramatic, high-contrast images with a distinctive visual style.

COLOR INFRARED PHOTOGRAPHY
While black-and-white remains the classic approach to infrared photography, color infrared imaging offers additional creative possibilities. By shooting in RAW format and applying color channel swapping during post-processing, photographers can create surreal and highly original images with striking color effects.

TIPS
- Set your camera to Monochrome mode when shooting.
- Even in bright daylight, exposure times ranging from several seconds to tens of seconds may be required.
- Use a sturdy tripod to ensure maximum stability during long exposures.
NOTE
Because standard photographic lenses are not specifically designed for infrared photography, some lenses may produce internal reflections in the infrared spectrum. This can result in a white circular spot, often referred to as an infrared hot spot, appearing in the center of the image. It is recommended to test your lens beforehand to determine its suitability for infrared photography.
